Police chase leads to arrest with help of K9 partner

PRESS RELEASE – On January 30, 2023, White County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in White County in which the driver Jody Allen Shea fled from law enforcement.

The vehicle pursuit entered Lumpkin County on Highway 115.

In the area of Highway 52 East, Shea struck a civilian’s vehicle and continued to flee from law enforcement. Shea then traveled through the round-about and continued to flee from law enforcement on Highway 52.

Just prior to Lewis Brown Road, Shea went into the opposite lane of travel and struck a embankment at which point a White County Patrol vehicle was able to pin Shea’s vehicle causing it to come to a complete stop.

Shea exited his vehicle fleeing on foot. Lumpkin County investigator, Mark Sutton, and and his K9 partner Semmy was able to successfully track and locate Shea in a remote wooded area, taking him into custody.

Shea was transported by EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation due to an eye injury he received during the accident.

Shea is currently at the Lumpkin County Detention Center being held on the following charges: Burglary, Smash and Grab Burglary, Obstruction of Officers (Felony), Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
