Plane Crash in White County Results in Cleveland man dead

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, April 20, Emergency personnel and the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call around 8:40 in the morning at Mountain Airpark Airport, a private airfield in southern White County.

The emergency call was in reference to an ultra-light airplane that crashed in the area.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel tended to a 79-year old male, later identified as the pilot Paul Winder.

Winder died at the scene from his injuries.

A Federal Aviation Administration report on the incident identified the plane as a single-engine Quicksilver Sport 2S.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been advised and an NTSB investigation is underway.

A preliminary report is expected within 30 days.
