PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. – Pickens Fire was dispatched a structure fire early this past Sunday morning on Carver Mill Road.

The first arriving engine reported visible flames coming from the roof.

It was discovered that the fire had started around a light receptacle in between two separate roof lines causing difficulty getting to the base of the fire.

Firefighters forced entry by cutting into the ceiling and gaining access to get the fire under control.

Occupants were home at the time of the fire with initial reports of smelling smoke and upon further investigation found the fire in the roof area.

Fire was contained near the point of origin. No injuries to occupant or firefighters.

Responding units were Pickens Fire Engine-63, Engine-11, Med-6, Med-11, 1101, County Fire Marshal, Hinton Fire Engine-60, 600, 602 Talking Rock Engine-72, 700, 701, Jasper Fire Engine -1, Bethany Salem Rehab-8
