FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested on Lake Lanier Sunday evening after allegedly biting a Georgia Department of Natural Resources officer during an encounter near Mary Alice Park and Baldridge Marina.
According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, game wardens were patrolling the area around 5:30 p.m. when they observed a personal watercraft idling without anyone operating it.
Wardens approached the vessel and spotted an individual swimming nearby. Officers stopped the watercraft and attempted to assist the operator back onto the vessel. During the interaction, game wardens reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the individual.
Authorities said officers made multiple attempts to help the man return to his personal watercraft, but he instead attempted to swim away. During the encounter, the individual allegedly bit one of the officers on the forearm.
The man was taken into custody without further incident. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said charges are pending.
No additional information about the suspect or the officer’s condition was immediately available.
