HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — A Haralson County man has been sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine in connection with a traffic stop that led to the seizure of approximately 800 grams of the drug.
According to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Robert Morris pleaded guilty on May 13, 2026, to felony trafficking in methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 30 years, with the first 15 years to be served in prison.
The case stemmed from a traffic stop conducted in September 2025 by Sgt. Sam Swanger. Authorities said Swanger stopped a vehicle after observing it fail to maintain its lane and became suspicious of the driver’s behavior during the encounter.
Swanger requested assistance from a Bremen Police Department K-9 unit. K-9 Kai conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to conduct a search.
During the search, law enforcement officers discovered approximately 800 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, according to investigators.
Sheriff Stacy Williams praised the efforts of the officers and prosecutors involved in the case.
“I would like to commend the hard work poured into this case by Sgt. Swanger and extend a big thank you to Assistant District Attorney Jason Jones and Bremen Police Department for their help,” Williams said in a statement.
Williams added that the arrest prevented a significant quantity of methamphetamine from being distributed within the community.
“This is just another step in getting this poison off the streets of Haralson County,” he said.
The case was prosecuted by the Haralson County District Attorney’s Office.
