HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Towns County Sheriff’s Office has received more than $15,000 in life-saving protective equipment from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Redstone Arsenal facility in Huntsville, Alabama, providing deputies with additional resources for responding to high-risk incidents.
According to the sheriff’s office, the donation includes eight sets of body armor with carriers, eight sets of heavy ceramic plate body armor, and two ballistic shields. Officials said the equipment will enhance deputy safety during active threats, high-risk calls, and other dangerous situations requiring additional protection.
Sheriff Anthony Coleman said the donation strengthens the agency’s ability to protect both deputies and the public.
“The safety of our deputies and the citizens we serve remains our highest priority,” Coleman said. “This generous donation from the FBI Redstone Arsenal provides our deputies with equipment that can save lives during critical incidents. These resources strengthen our ability to respond effectively to dangerous situations while continuing to provide the highest level of service and protection to the people of Towns County. We are sincerely grateful for this partnership and the individuals who helped make this possible.”
The sheriff’s office said the donation highlights the ongoing partnership between federal and local law enforcement agencies aimed at improving operational readiness and public safety.
Coleman also recognized Bryce Fankhauser and Patrick Stokes of the FBI Redstone Arsenal for helping facilitate the donation, as well as Towns County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Brad Exum, who coordinated the acquisition and transfer of the equipment.
“This donation is a testament to what can be accomplished through strong professional relationships and a shared commitment to public safety,” Coleman said. “We are fortunate to have partners who understand the importance of equipping law enforcement officers with the tools necessary to keep both deputies and citizens safe.”
The Towns County Sheriff’s Office said it will continue pursuing partnerships and opportunities that improve officer preparedness and provide deputies with the resources needed to serve the citizens of Towns County.
