WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – Dalton Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old man accused of performing lewd acts in his vehicle while allegedly targeting women jogging in the area.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nathaniel Willingham, of Summerville. He faces four counts of lewd acts and one count of stalking.
According to police, the investigation began after an incident on April 7 along Walnut Avenue and Tibbs Road. The case was reported the following day.
The victim told investigators she was jogging on Walnut Avenue when she noticed a man—later identified as Willingham—watching her from a parked vehicle and appearing to take photos or videos with his phone. She continued running and later encountered the same man parked along Tibbs Road, where he allegedly continued the behavior.
When the woman confronted him, she reported that he was performing a lewd act inside his vehicle. She was able to photograph the suspect and his license plate before reporting the incident to police on April 8.
Investigators said the case bears similarities to other recent complaints in the area, including along Walnut Avenue, Tibbs Road, and College Drive.
On April 9, police used license plate information and alerts from the Flock camera system to locate the suspect vehicle back in Dalton. Officers made contact with Willingham, who, according to authorities, admitted to committing similar acts involving multiple victims.
Police believe additional victims may not have come forward and are urging anyone with information about similar incidents to contact Sergeant Matias Castillo at 706-278-9085, extension 9-352.
The investigation remains ongoing.
