PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. – Firefighters from Pickens County and the City of Jasper responded to a structure fire on Talking Rock Road late Monday morning, according to officials.
The Pickens Fire and Jasper Fire Department were dispatched to the scene around 10 a.m. following reports of flames visible from a residence. Pickens Fire Engine 11 arrived first and found a working structure fire, immediately deploying handlines to begin fire suppression efforts.
Jasper Fire Engine 11 arrived shortly thereafter to establish a water supply and assist with fire attack operations. Fire crews remained on scene for approximately four hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Officials said the occupant was inside the home when the fire began but was able to safely escape along with his three dogs. No injuries were reported.
The residence is believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
Additional responding units included Pickens Fire Engine 70, Engine 72, Med 2, Med 11, Tender 2, Battalion 11, FM-1, FM-2, Rehab 8, as well as Jasper Fire Engine 1 and Car 3.
