Calhoun Man Arrested on Child Molestation Charges After Deputies Respond to Cash Community Home

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — A Calhoun man was arrested Saturday after deputies responded to a report of an alleged child molestation at a home in Gordon County’s Cash community.
According to authorities, Gordon County sheriff’s deputies were called to a private residence off Dews Pond Road on the afternoon of Aug. 8 after receiving a report that a child molestation had just occurred. The complainant told authorities the alleged crime had been interrupted while it was in progress.
When deputies arrived, they located the alleged offender, identified as Ray Sum, 31, of Calhoun, and took him into custody without incident.
Authorities said the victim is a preschool-aged child. No identifying information about the child was released.
Sum is facing charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and child molestation. He was being held pending bond proceedings.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the allegations, and additional details have not been released.
