38 pounds of marijuana and other drugs confiscated

PRESS RELEASE – The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement in respond to one of their deputies confiscating a large amount of drugs.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, on May 18, 2024, Deputy Ellenburg conducted a traffic stop in the Gore area of Chattooga County.

The traffic stop resulted in the “seizure of approximately 38 pounds of marijuana, several pounds of THC wax, other illegal drugs, over $17,000 cash and a firearm.”

Stephen Cox, age 55, of New Jersey was arrested on various charges related to the unlawful possession and trafficking of illegal drugs.

Deputy Ellenburg also recently made an arrest, unrelated to this one, for trafficking of fentanyl.
