BLAIRSVILLE, Ga – The Farmer’s Market will open this Saturday, June 5 at 7 a.m.
The market’s purpose is to encourage the “development of local agriculture” and serves as a gathering place for vendors and customers to meet. Local artisans are also encouraged to open a booth at the seasonal event.
It will be open every Saturday from June 5 to October 30 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 290 Farmers Market Way.
On June 5, the Union County Farmer’s Market Kids Club will be holding an event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kids can plant some sunflower seeds and experience the power of produce.
2021 will see a continuation of COVID-19 protocols with everyone encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Union County Farmer’s Market reserves the right to reinstate the mask policy if necessary. Additionally, if COVID-19 cases rise, measures such as plexiglass walls or two tables between vendors and customers might be implemented.
Vendor tables will be set up behind yellow lines to mitigate traffic. They will also be permitted to give away packaged samples. Vendors are also instructed to frequently sanitize their hands and provide hand sanitizer for the public.
Any vendor experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is instructed not to attend the Farmer’s Market until well. Anyone who has tested positive within the last 14 days are also asked not to come. Vendors must be fever and symptom-free for 24 hours before they can return to the Farmer’s Market.
If a vendor has experienced exposure to someone with COVID-19 he/she may participate in Farmers Market activities after a minimum 72-hour quarantine provided the vendor monitors their temperature and symptoms, wears a mask, practices social distancing, and regularly cleans and disinfects their workspace.
