Two Charged After Shooting Investigation in Gordon County, Georgia

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities have charged two men following a shooting investigation at a private residence in Gordon County, Georgia, according to Sheriff Mitch Ralston.
Deputies were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, to a home on Baker Circle off Dews Pond Road after receiving a report of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies provided first aid to the victim, who was later transported by air ambulance for medical treatment.
Responding deputies quickly identified the source of the gunfire and detained one adult male at the scene. Investigators recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident and confirmed that no additional suspects were being sought.
Detectives remained on scene following the incident, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
In an update released Thursday, March 19, authorities said two individuals, Anthony P. Hall, 21, and Donavan Downey, 23, both of Calhoun, have each been charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless conduct.
Investigators stated they do not believe the shooting was a malicious act. The victim has since been treated and released from the hospital.
The case remains under investigation.
