HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – A man has been arrested following an investigation into suspected child sexual abuse material discovered on a cell phone, according to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Seth Entrekin responded to a local hospital emergency department on Feb. 6, 2026, after receiving a report regarding possible child sexual abuse material. Upon arrival, Deputy Entrekin spoke with a witness who stated that Brandon Lee Smith had said he lost his cell phone and would be “in a lot of trouble” if someone found it. According to the witness, Smith allegedly stated the phone contained inappropriate images of children.

Authorities said Smith’s cell phone was later brought to the hospital, and after proper documentation was completed, Deputy Entrekin took possession of the device. Lt. Jason Bowman and Crimes Against Children Investigator Nicole Wilson were notified of the situation.

Investigators said Smith signed a consent form allowing a search of the phone. Upon reviewing its contents, investigators reported locating more than 10 images that were positively identified as child sexual abuse material.

Smith was arrested and charged with felony sexual exploitation of children.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional charges are possible.
