PRESS RELEASE – Earlier this week, one of our elderly residents was reported missing by his family.

The 80-year-old had been missing for several hours and was last seen walking away from his residence and was reported to have numerous health issues. With the temperatures rising into the mid 90’s, we knew we had to find him quickly.

The search started with about 30 of our deputies including our K9 and Drone units. Quickly, our partners with our own Forsyth County Fire Department joined us in the search.

As the search expanded and the area of the search was increased, we needed reinforcements, and our neighboring agencies did not hesitate to jump in.

The small-scale search turned into a large operation with nearly 100 public safety personnel involved.

After more than 5 hours, we found him lying in a heavily wooded area.

He was suffering from dehydration and minor injuries but likely would not have lasted the night.

Deputies, Firefighters and EMS quickly assessed and transported him for medical treatment.

This would not have been possible without the help of our partnering agencies.

FCSO would like to send a huge shout out to, Central EMS, Johns Creek Police K9 unit, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, Hall County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and Georgia State Patrol Aviation unit.
