Pickens County structure fire

PRESS RELEASE – Pickens Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Emory Road around 4:15 PM this past Saturday.

The initial report was that the home was on fire, and everyone was out of the residence. Upon arrival of Battalion 11 and Med-6, one person was found outside in distress.

Med-6 immediately provided care while Batt 11 conducted scene assessment. Engine-11 arrived and deployed fire attack line through the front while another team searched for any remaining occupants.

Quick action by a neighbor had knocked the fire down with a fire extinguisher. The fire in the kitchen was completely extinguished by the attack crew.

Fire damage was limited to the kitchen area with smoke damage throughout the residence. The distressed patient at scene was treated and released. No injuries to firefighters.

Responding units were Pickens Battalion 11, Med 2, Med 6, Engine 11, Bethany Salem Rehab-8, Hinton VFD, Talking Rock VFD and Jasper FD.
