Bobcats Wrestling Crowned State Dual Runner-up

Team FYN Sports

The Gilmer Bobcats Wrestling team traveled to Stephens County once again for the State Duals team championships.

Gilmer entered the day as the number 1 seed and knocked off Lafayette and Bremen on their way to face Columbus in the Finals.

The Finals were as close as they could possibly be, with only one point being the deciding factor of who took home the trophy.

In the final match, Johnathon McDaniel defeated Carson Farist by way of a 5-4 decision, which ultimately allowed Columbus to come away with a 34-33 victory.

The Bobcats appearance in the finals marked the 13th year in a row the Purple and White have made it to the State Dual Finals, the longest active streak in the state of Georgia.

The Bobcats will now shift their focus to the individual portion of their season, as they look to crown the next line of State Championship wrestlers.
