Short Takes – Is No. Korean Skulduggery Afoot?

Probably!  As warm and touchy-feely as the appearance of detente between South and North Korea seems supposedly organized by President Trump’s “Speak softly but carry a big stick” approach to the North’s belligerence, as I previously opined on this business, It ain’t gonna to happen or, if it does, Kim will sabotage it like Kruschev did to Eisenhower after the first U-2 incident.

Already, “Rocketman” is claiming the US is “Ruining the Mood of Detente Ahead of Summit.” Believe me, it ain’t going to happen. Rocketman is in the nuclear club and he intends to stay there and he will defy any force to try and stop him.  He is laying the ground work for his victimization, will blame the US for starving the North Korean people with the sanctions will demand, all sanctions be lifted, his international monetary system restored and let the North Korean people live in peace.

Now that he has contaminated a third of his country, a part of Manchuria and his radioactive boondoggle is flowing so gently down the Yalu River into the Sea of Japan and beyond, he’s got nothing left to lose. China is not sanguine about the environmental problem their puppet has gifted them, but In the end, China won’t let him lose.

Kim will not go along to get along. Instead, he is launching a PR offensive, in the midst of Trump’s apparent home problems, with the expectation that Trump can’t pull off his threats that started this whole business. His first goal is long term, to split off South Korea from the US and neutralize Japan’s ambitions for solid self-defense. The Japanese know.

Words are important. What is said and what is not said reveal clues to analysts what’ could be going on in someones mind. For Kim analysts have to think Oriental. Kim, at his summit with the President of So. Korea,, agreed to a number of measures aimed at improving North-South relations and, most importantly, said he was willing to ‘discuss’ the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. A totally meaningless phrase, avoiding any vehicle for completion.

Kim will do little meaningless things like remove his DMZ loud speakers, but they can be reinstalled quickly. He will release the three Korean Americans as a gesture of goodwill, but he will demand US troops quit South Korea, which would be a violation of US South-East Asia defense agreements and, in return, he would demobilize his Army. That means putting away their uniforms and stopping his goose stepping parades in Pyongyang. They’ll still be there.

The military units would be disguised as labor battalions and his secretive nuclear work will continue in other uncontaminated locations. A part of Kim’s new PR offensive is couched in statements by NK spokesmen: “The U.S. is deliberately provoking the DPRK at the time when the situation on the Korean Peninsula is moving toward peace and reconciliation,” The NK spokesman also “warned the U.S. not to interpret Pyongyang’s willingness to talk as a sign of weakness.” He also criticized Washington for its ongoing “pressure and military threats”

Sentiments like those are right out of Sun Tzu’s, The Art of war. that victory and defeat are psychological states, that war is not so much as a matter of destroying the enemy materially and physically, but of unsettling the enemy psychologically, the goal, to force the enemy’s leadership and society from a condition of harmony in which they can resist effectively, toward one of chaos which is tantamount to defeat. Trump isn’t really helping here. He definitely needs his Generals.

Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em!
