At approximately 6:55 a.m., deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call where shots were fired. During their investigation, deputies learned the shots were fired in response to a domestic dispute which occurred between neighbors by phone contact only. No one was injured.
However, the subject drove away from the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival. Deputies learned that the subject was Brystal Bohannon, who worked in the cafeteria at Stephens County High School. Due to Bohannon being a school employee and the situation occurring in the area of the high school, deputies notified SROs and school administrators. At approximately 8:00 a.m., Bohannon returned to the scene, where she was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
While Bohannon was never a threat to the high school, deputies, SROs, and school administration took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students within the high school this morning. The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, along with Stephens County High School, are committed to ensuring the safety of students, teachers, faculty and staff at the high school. While there was no threat to the school, we are thankful for the men and women who responded quickly to this situation to keep our community safe.
