Gilmer Lady “Cats” Volleyball Picks Off Pickens

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Pickens High School take on the region rival, Dragonettes. The “Cats” claimed victory with a 2-1 come from behind win over the “Nettes.” The junior varsity squad also won, in straight sets; however, the ninth graders fell 2-1.The ninth grade team fell in the first set, 25-20, before battling back to a six point, 25-19, second set win. The “Nettes” took set three, 25-21.

The JV squad, outscored the “Nettes'” JV 50-22, with the two set (25-16, 25-6) sweep of Pickens. Kendall Avery and Chayce Durden led the JV team with four Aces a piece, while Sydney Berry Raven Sparks and Harley Weaver all had three kills each. Peyton Avery led with four assists.

The varsity fell in set one, in a close contest, 25-22. Set two saw another back and forth battle, with the Bobcats beating the Dragonettes, 25-21. The third set featured the Lady “Cats” closing out the closest contest of the night, with a two point, 25-23 victory.

Emily Reece was Aces high, with 12. Jordan Luczynski and Delaney DeLoach each had four. Brooke Sims and Emily Sandord tid for the lead in kills, with eight. Kali Malham and Kayleigh Reece each had one block.

Sanford also led in digs with a whopping 17, followed by Reece with nine and DeLoach with eight.
